2012 Les Vignerons de Tautavel "Silex Tautavel" Côtes du Roussillon Villages

SKU #1343624 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

An incredible effort, the 2012 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Tautavel Silex is made from a mix of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, all from old vines, that was brought up in tank. Reminding me of Clos des Papes’s 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape in a blind tasting, it offers rocking notes of kirsch liqueur, spice, garrigue and cedar to go with a medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless feel on the palate. This is high class all the way and a gorgeous wine. Standing for Les Vignerons de Tautavel, VTV is one serious co-op based in the village of Tautavel, in the northern part of the Roussillon. Country:

France

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
