Westward American Single Malt Whiskey (750ml)

SKU #1331326 94 points Wine Enthusiast

Made from 100% malted barley grown in the Pacific Northwest and fermented with ale yeast, this single-barrel single malt is brisk, flavorful and hints at beer. The sweet, gentle aroma offers vanilla and a subtle root beer-like herbal note. The palate is on the drier side, but pleasing, showing lots of vanilla and a hoppy note at the end chased by allspice and clove. (KN) (3/2016)

K&L Notes

Made from 100% malted barley grown in the Pacific Northwest. Fermented with a traditional ale yeast and distilled in copper pots, the spirit is aged in new charred oak for more than 2 years. Round and supple without the typical intense sweetness you'd expect from straight whiskey. Ultimately a very well balanced single malt that drinks somewhere in between an American whiskey and a traditional Scottish single malt.

The gorgeous and effusive nose indicates this whisky has nothing to hide. White peach, sweet apricot and soft, pale wood paint a delightful picture of what you're going to taste. The sweetness of the malt is balanced by a hearty savory quality and sufficient salinity. Fruit, sage and perfectly integrated oak create something undeniably approachable and uniquely American. Truly a delight to taste.
