An aromatic style of Barolo, laced with cherry, plum, leather and cigar aromas and flavors. There is plenty of sweet fruit, flesh and a dense matrix of tannins, echoing tobacco notes and picking up a mineral edge on the long aftertaste. Very complex and fresh. (BS)

Underbrush, saddle leather, dark berry and culinary spice aromas slowly unfold in the glass. Succulent and full bodied, the firmly structured palate delivers raspberry compote, ripe Marasca cherry,
baking spice and pipe tobacco framed in youthfully assertive but noble tannins and bright acidity. A savory mineral note lingers on the finish. This is one for the long haul. Drink 2025-2053. *Cellar Selection* (KO)

Aromas of blackberry and tar follow through to a full body and a dense and layered palate with a wealth of fruit and spices. A solid center of fruit here. Drink in 2020.

Vinous
The 2013 Barolo Prapò is the most powerful and dense of the four Schiavenza Barolos I tasted. Firm tannins enshroud a core of dark fruit as this imposing Barolo shows off its Serralunga muscle. The 2013 is a bit burly and rough around the edges, but it, too, offers quite a bit of potential. (AG)
