2014 Denner "The Ditch Digger" Paso Robles Rhône Blend

SKU #1319876 96 points Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Up with some of my favorite wines from winemaker Anthony Yount, the 2014 The Ditch Digger Denner Vineyard is a sensational blend of 60% Grenache, 15% each of Syrah and Mourvedre, and the balance Counoise and Cinsault. It offers a polished, elegant, yet full-bodied and textured style to go with killer purity in its sweet black raspberry and black currant fruit, dried herbs and pepper aromas and flavors. The purity here is truly fabulous and this is up with the top GSM blends coming out of California. Drink it any time over the coming decade. (JD) Inner quote mark (8/2016)

Outer quote mark Brilliant ruby. Fresh cherry and raspberry aromas are complicated and sharpened by a spicy element. Sweet and seamless in texture, offering pliant red fruit liqueur and spicecake flavors and hints of lavender and smoky minerals that build on the back half. Closes sappy, spicy and extremely long, showing gentle tannic grip and a suave repeating raspberry note. (JR) Inner quote mark (6/2016)

Outer quote mark Boldly built, with a strong personality, this offers ripe raspberry and peppered meat aromas and plump, complex flavors of black currant, grilled anise and mocha. Tannins tighten the finish. (TF) Inner quote mark (3/2017)
