2013 Mas Rodó "Incognit" Negre Penedes

SKU #1311536

Mas Rodó is a winery located in a uniquely situated inland Penedes valley, parallel to the Mediterranean and at an average of 500 meters above sea level. This unique situation, combined with careful viticulture, lots of tree cover and separation from neighboring vineyards, creates idea conditions for healthy, flavorful, naturally balanced grapes. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignin, Merlot and Tempranillo grown in calcareous sand soils, Incognit would be an interesting ringer if thrown into a line-up of $20-30 Bordeaux. Red fruits on the nose lead to a juicy and decidedly dry palate, reminiscent perhaps of right bank Bordeaux, with just a hint of subtle green notes adding complexity. French style with a Catalan soul.
