Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the inky/purple-colored 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Solo offers up sweet cassis fruit notes intermixed with kirsch, licorice and spice. Elegant, medium to full-bodied, pure and rich, this impressive effort reveals good acidity, vibrancy and freshness. It should drink well for 15-20 years. 93+ (RP) (10/2013)
(100% cabernet sauvignon, from the vineyard surrounding the winery): Deep, bright ruby-red. Pungent oak and mint lift aromas of blackberry, cassis, medicinal black cherry, licorice, menthol and wild herbs. Densely packed and juicy, showing a distinctly tighter grain and a more youthfully imploded character than the Napa Valley cabernet, with intense cassis and spice flavors complicated by herbs and tobacco leaf. Finishes subtle and persistent, with firm tannins and an element of delicacy. There's more ahead for this wine: I'd hold it for four or five years. 91+ (ST) (5/2014)
