2016 Ouled Thaleb Rosé Morocco

SKU #1307623

Morocco may not be on the radar of most wine drinkers, but with a growing industry and a mountainous, Mediterranean climate, it's beginning to carve its niche. At the start of the 20th century, French settlers brought winemaking know-how with them and created a burgeoning industry. After Moroccan independence, however, wine production significantly waned, not to return until nearly the end of the century, when Ouled Thaleb led its renewal under the direction of winemaker Stephanie Marriot. This pretty, crisp rose is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault grown in sandy, gravely soil. It was fermented in stainless steel to preserve the fruit's freshness, which shines through in notes of watermelon, cranberries, and roses. Break out the tapas, this is a great wine for a casual summer night's sipping.
