Wine Advocate
The NV Old Vine Red Lot 66 is a multi-vintage red blend from a combination of four vintages: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. A blend of predominately Zinfandel with some Syrah, Petite Sirah and Carignane plus a small amount of Italian varieties. 60% was barrel aged and 40% was aged in tank. Deep garnet-purple colored, it has quite a meaty / gamey nose over a core of warm blackberries, roses, tar and bacon fat plus suggestions of black pepper and anise. Medium-bodied with a good concentration of fruit supported by rounded tannins and lively backbone, it finishes long and earthy. Great value! (LPB)

Wine Enthusiast
It's great to return to an excellent honest-tasting fruit-driven wine that has very good balance, an appetizing texture thanks to fine-grained tannins and light spicy elements to complement the pure cherry and berry core. It's the kind of wine that doesn't get tiring, and will be ideal to stock up on. *Best Buy* (JG)

Vinous
Marietta's flagship NV Old Vine Red Lot Number 66 is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next few years, while the plummy red fruit and floral notes retain their freshness. Bright red cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and sweet pipe tobacco give this fresh, vinous red much of its inviting personality. (AG)

K&L Notes
Introduced in 1982, Marietta utilizes the old vine pedigree of their fruit from across Sonoma and Mendocino counties to make a wine of substance and value that defies modern convention. This exuberantly bistro-styled wine has a dedicated following, but is also finding appeal with a new generation of savvy wine drinkers. Wine writer Jon Bonné explains it best in his 2013 book, The New California Wine: "It's immediately evident how much Old Vine Red trumps mass-market competitors that cost only a couple bucks less. It tastes like classic old-fashioned California table red, robust in that Zinfandel way, but a far cry form the generic and sugary confections against which is competes."
