K&L Notes

We're always looking for pricing that makes great Burgundy accessible to the masses, so when we saw these discounts we were intrigued. What made us truly excited was tasting the wines: they are serious, vineyard-first, expressive, age-worthy red Burgs that show the heights of the vintage. It is for this reason their list prices are among Burgundy's elite. Aurélien Verdet isn't a household name, but a parcel like this might just put him there, and quickly. Certified Biodynamic, Verdet crafts complex and no-compromise wines from some of the finest sites in Côte-de-Nuits. These are must-try wines for Burg enthusiasts and those looking to discover the region's true gems. Located on the northernmost border of the Côte d’Or, the village of Gevrey-Chambertin evokes legendary magic and prestige for producing the wine of kings. This Pinot Noir, grown on vines planted in the 1970s in a plot just east of Mazis-Chambertin, has an intensely aromatic nose of peony and violet, with great weight and flavor density. Whether you’re a seasoned Burgundy enthusiast or are new to the region, don't miss out on the available selections from this Domaine. They are all rather approachable now and have a fair amount of power to them, making them worthwhile companions to your cellar. This Gevrey Chambertin makes its presence known with an abundance of rich black fruits, smoke, spice and structure. I suggest purchasing a few bottles, one to try immediately, another to try in a few years, and another to try in the far future. It’s not often wines like this come at these prices so take advantage of the educational opportunity provided.

Delicious! This is a ready-to-drink red Burgundy that way over-delivers given its meager cost. Our least expensive Gevrey Chambertin is also one of our best, this dark berry, cola-laden offering has pretty spice and oak notes to buffer the soft fruit flavors. A classic Gevrey, this is a no-brainer at only $34.99.
Top Value! Drink from 2017 to 2027

Classic Gevrey at an amazing price! Fragrantly floral with ripe berry, this is a total delight. I love the graceful 2014 vintage for it's balance of fruit and structure. Pop this open tonight and buy a few to hold a few to reap the benefits.

Bright, fresh, aromatic, and a lovely perfume. Perfectly situated between "old-world" and "new-world", style there's something to please everyone - especially at this price. If you're looking for an elegant Pinot, with fine tannins, from Burgundy that's ready to drink now, look no further. Give this some room to breathe and watch how the wine begins to express itself. Enjoy!

Ripe and pleasing with a more masculine and sturdy nose of black cherry, raspberry, herbs, earth, stony minerality and a touch of game. Fresh and broad on the palate. Excellent intensity for villages level. Very Gevrey and very good.

A great bottle of Gevrey Chambertin for only $35.00 seems impossible but this beautiful wine has flowery aromatics that lead to a smooth and plush body of red fruit, a touch of licorice and a long mineral laced finish. At this price I could drink this all day.
