Fabulous aromas of blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants, not to mention violets. Stones as well. Full-bodied, powerful and tannic yet all in finesse and balance. Wonderful texture. Lovely drinkability already. Long future.

Vinous
Massimo di Costanzo's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Vivid, rich and concentrated, the 2013 Farella captures the essence of this great Napa Valley vintage. Mocha, graphite, smoke, crème de cassis, licorice and dark spices meld together in a deep, unctuous Cabernet Sauvignon supported by firm Coombsville tannins and salivating acidity, both of which give the wine its energy. Modern and yet also classic, Di Costanzo's 2013 is a total knock-out. Today, the wine is a touch compact and closed in on itself, so readers will have to be patient. Lastly, the inscription on the cork shows Di Costanzo's sense of humor: vino fa cantare, acqua fa male, which translates to 'wine makes you sing, water is bad for you.' (AG)

Decanter
Long and savory, with powerful, complex, mineral flavors and rich blackcurrant fruit. It has the super-fine tannins you can find in Coombsville. The AVA’s cool temperatures, often 10°F less than Calistoga, contribute to its complexity.

Almost creamy, perfumed aromatics with a pop of fresh blackcurrant and blackberries. Taut palate that opens to reveal more with air. Spun through with graphite, black bark, and black-rock minerality. Persistent, fine tannins with balancing acidity carrying through to a long finish. Has the fruit to be approachable now. Opens and integrates nicely with air over several days – will likely integrate and focus further with age. (ECB) 17/20 points
