2014 Alento Tinto Alentejo

SKU #1293651

Produced from a blend of Aragones, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet and Touriga Nacional, this new Altejo arrival is delicious! Aged in tanke, the red and purple skinned fruit flavors are generous, yet slightly firm and edgy as well - tasty, well balanced red from the Alentejo.

Aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, prunes, and wine grapes along with a bouquet of wet stone and musty earth. On the palate, the flavors of cherries and blackberries come through once more. While this wine is robust, it is balanced against a bright and fresh acidity which lends it to be quite food friendly. One of my favorite Portuguese wines we currently offer, red or white

- Although quite small, Portugal produces a great variety of wines ranging from light and fizzy Vinho Verde to hearty and tannic Port. Portugal is Europe's fourth-largest wine-producing region, and has been exporting its wine since the 14th century. The Douro Valley of Portugal is the original and current home for the world's finest Port. The valley spans from east of the city of Oporto all the way to the border of Spain and is the country's best known wine region. Lesser-appreciated DOCs like Bairrada and Dão area also emerging for their fine, rustic reds.
