2015 Hahn "GSM" Central Coast Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre

SKU #1285448 Connoisseurs Guide

*Good Value & One Star* Fully ripe berries abound in this effusively fruity Rhônish blend, and, while it would be hard to argue that it is a complex or especially elegant wine, we have no complaints about its juicy and forthright appeals. It is fairly full and somewhat plump on the palate, and, if not soft or lacking in spine, it is no more than minimally tannic. It may not demand immediate drinking, but it promises few rewards with age, and it is ready to enjoy without delay. (3/2017)

Wine Spectator

Soft and easygoing, with small-scale strawberry and spice flavors. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2023. (3/2017)

K&L Notes

Aromas of blueberry and strawberry jam come to the fore followed by cedar and a hint of exotic spice.

Attention fruit lovers! This is a deliciously bold, ripe and jammy GSM blend that will delight your summer picnic palate. Brimming over with ripe strawberry, stewed black cherry, the wine offers a full, rich mouthfeel with a refreshing yet balanced acidity. With heady aromatics of fresh rose petal and violet are tempered by a spicy black pepper finish, this is a great Californian value.

United States

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world.

- With the explosive growth that California's wine industry has seen the past several years, it's easy to view winemaking and grape growing in the Golden State as a recent phenomenon. And while it's true that California's viticultural history is brief compared to several European countries, this state's roots date back well over 200 years. Due to the enormous response to California wine within the United States and worldwide, there are thousands of excellent and diverse wines being produced within the state each year.
