Connoisseurs Guide
DuMOL is hitting on all cylinders these days, and this Syrah, often a CGCW favorite, also rushes to the very top of the category with its smoky, meaty varietal adjuncts and its clear, keenly focused blackberry fruit aromas supported by a fair dollop of toasty oak. Taking advantage of a minerally streak, the wine gains complexity and longevity through flavors that are at once high in volume and concentration yet are still somewhat tight and loaded with promise for great growth as its tannins round out.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Syrah Eddie's Patch has an earthy/meaty/gamey nose with underlying dark fruits of black currants, black plums and black cherries. The palate reveals an alluring earthy/savory character, complimenting the wonderfully pure black berry characters, with chewy tannins and lovely harmony, finishing long. (LPB)

Vinous
Graphite, smoke, game, lavender, licorice and violet give the 2014 Syrah Eddie's Patch Greywacke Vineyard its intense, dark personality. Brooding and massively tannic, the 2014 is going to need at least a few years to come into its own. There is plenty of aromatic presence and nuance in the glass, but the tannins are quite present. The Eddie's Patch was done with 30% whole clusters. (AG)
