2014 Resonance (Louis Jadot) Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

SKU #1279742 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2014 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, the second release from Louis Jadot in their new venture in Oregon, was vinified at Trisaetum, and as far as I am aware will continue that way until their own winery is up and running. It is a strong follow-up to their debut 2013. It is a blend of grapes coming from different vineyards from the Willamette Valley, including Resonance, Decouverte and others. The bouquet is bestowed with ample brambly red berry fruit, perhaps a little 'fuller' than the 2013, but with fine definition. The palate is well balanced with a similar fruit profile to the first release, perhaps just showing a little more edginess, a Pinot Noir that in a funny way expresses the wealth of knowledge behind it. Jacques Ladière, the eternal retiree, has crafted another delicious Pinot Noir that is going to win a lot of fans. Maybe one or two in Burgundy perchance? (NM) Inner quote mark (6/2016)

Outer quote mark *Editors' Choice* This is the second release this year from Maison Louis Jadot's Oregon project-both wines are labeled Résonance, but this is the Willamette Valley cuvée, not the Résonance vineyard bottling. Some estate fruit is included, and it is a subtle and detailed wine, with pretty mulberry and pie-cherry fruit. Thirteen months in 20% new French oak adds light mocha highlights, and it is as smooth and refined as one might expect from master winemaker Jacques Lardière. (PG) Inner quote mark (8/2016)

Outer quote mark (20 percent new oak) Vivid red. Mineral-accented red and dark berry preserve and floral scents show very good clarity and pick up notes of licorice and cola as the wine opens up. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering sappy black raspberry and cherry cola flavors that show very good depth as well as vivacity and lift. Dusty tannins come in slowly on a long, smoky finish that leaves notes of cherry pit and allspice behind. Burgundy’s Maison Louis Jadot purchased the 20-acre Resonance vineyard in 2013 and the wines are being made under the supervision of long-time Jadot winemaker Jacques Lardiere and his team. Until a winery is built the wines are being made at Trisaetum. Stylistically, these bottlings strongly show their Burgundy bloodline, with firm structure and Old World aromatic profiles, which is to say more savory than overtly fruity. Followers of Jadot’s Burgundies, and traditional Burgundy in general, should definitely put these wines on their shopping list. (JR) Inner quote mark (8/2016)

Outer quote mark Supple, velvety and expressive, layering the cherry and blackberry fruit with hints of tobacco, tar and dried flowers. Finishes with precision and length, creating a warm balance. (HS) Inner quote mark (8/2016)
