Smoky clove and rose petal aromas underlie a delicately complex fruitiness in this wine, its cranberry and pomegranate flavors complemented by cardamon, dried herb and savory black tea. Light-bodied and fresh, it offers an indelible silkiness on the palate. (VB)

The 2014 Pinot Noir Foss Vineyard is one of the most linear and focused of the Russian River Pinots in this lineup. There is no shortage of depth or overall intensity, but the Foss is a wine that emphasizes persistence over the more exuberant style that is often found in the Russian River. Bright red cherry, pomegranate, chalk, white flowers and mint lead into the powerful driving finish. I would give the 2014 another year or two for the tannins to unwind a bit. (AG)

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Foss Vineyard is scented of red currants, kirsch, rose petals and Provence herbs with a touch of forest floor. Light to medium-bodied, there is a beautiful quiet intensity about this wine, framed by soft, silken tannins and finishing with a refreshing lift. (LPB)

This is also aromatically pure, cool and airy with a similar if slightly spicier mix of aromas. There is more volume and richness to the generously proportioned middle weight flavors that don't possess quite the same refinement on the dusty, delicious and well-balanced finale that exhibits a bit of youthful austerity. This needs to develop more depth in order to rival the best in the range so I would suggest cellaring the Foss for at least a few years first.
