2010 Bel-Orme Tronquoy de Lalande, Haut-Médoc

SKU #1271462 90 points James Suckling

Attractive nose with loads of candied violets, raspberries and rose petals. Plum and some licorice. Full and nice texture on the palate with charming fruit and fine tannins. Enjoyable finish with medium length and a tasty licorice note. Drink from 2016. (6/2013)

Jancis Robinson

Very refreshing nose. Lots of energy but only medium intensity on the palate. Minerals, refreshment and nice balance here even if it is not showy. Good stuff. (1/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Tasted at Château Rauzan-Gassies. The 2010 Bel-Orme Tronquoy de Lalande has a superior bouquet to the 2009, a little more fruit intensity and focus, dusky blackberry, scorched earth with a touch of leather. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, red berry fruit, a little rustic but with more freshness on the finish compared to the disappointing previous vintage. (NM) (2/2017)

Wine Enthusiast

The Quié family, owners of Crozet-Bages in Pauillac and Rauzan-Gassies in Margaux, live in this northern Haut-Médoc property. The 2010 is closed, firmly tannic and solidly structured. It feels chunky, and its black plum flavor is tightly packed. (RV) (2/2013)

Wine Spectator

Shows a gutsy feel, with lightly mulled plum and steeped cassis fruit melded with singed apple wood and smoldering charcoal. The long, fleshy finish lets the roasted wood edge play out. Needs a little cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2024. (JM) (3/2013)

Believe it or not, this affordable, aged gem is the second property of the great second growth Rauzan Gassies. The pedigree is evident immediately on the nose: It has a nice core of cherries and strawberries with notes of mint, leather and spice, and even a little sous-bois and toast. What a knock out for the price!

This easy to like bottle shows the quality of the vintage at an easy to digest price. Husky black cherry fruit, earth, mineral and light smoke fill the slightly rustic middle yet there is good freshness and a fine chalky grip to the finish. Decant and enjoy.

A beautiful and expressive Bordeaux that drinks very well now. It is medium to full bodied with nice dark fruits\ flavors that are complemented with subtle earth and mineral notes. Typical of the 2010 vintage, the fruit is balanced with nice acidity which makes this a lively and delicious wine. It will be best with hearty foods.

This 2010 is a keeper for a few years--it is bright and fruity and has round tannins. Much softer than some of its neighbors in 2010. I love the dominant red fruit flavors.

Very intriguing nose of an intermingling of fruit and woodsy character. The sweet spices of vanilla along the notes of cassis and cocoa. Decant or cellar for a few more years. A very good value.
