Named after Tom Rochioli’s daughter, the 2014 Chardonnay Rachel’s Vineyard is made from the Mt. Eden clone, which is believed to be a clone sourced from one of Puligny-Montrachet’s grand cru vineyards. Crushed stone, quince, white currant and white peach notes all jump from the glass of this wine, which has great intensity, freshness, terrific acidity and a long finish. (RP) (3/2016)
Rochioli's 2014 Chardonnay Rachael's Vineyard is powerful and intense, but also not fully put together yet. Tropical fruit, apricot jam, orange peel, butter and wild flowers give the wine much of its bold personality. With time in the glass, the Rachael's gains freshness and becomes a bit more gracious. My impression is that the elements haven't quite fused together just yet, so readers should be prepared to wait a year or two before opening bottles. (AG) 92+ (2/2016)
