2011 Pasetti "Tenutarossa" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

SKU #1255367

Vinous praised the wines of Pasetti: "Owner Domenico Pasetti, helped by his wife Laura and children Massimo, Davide and Francesca, represents a modern success story in Abruzzo wine, as his judiciously oaked, easy-to-drink wines have been extremely popular, especially in Italy, over the past decade. The cellar is located in Francavilla by the sea, but the grapes come mainly from two different estates high up in the Apennine range in the region’s interior, at Pescosansonesco and Capestrano. Pasetti is just one of many Abruzzo producers who credits Luigi Cataldi Madonna’s Pecorino wines for "showing him the way," and helping him produce different and better wines." (ID, 04/2015)

Modern Italy, which didn't actually exist as a country until the 1870s, once produced mainly simple, everyday wine. It wasn't until the 1970s that Italy began the change toward quality. The 1980s showed incredible efforts and a lot of experimentation. The 1990s marked the real jump in consistent quality, including excellence in many Region that had been indistinct for ages. The entire Italian peninsula is seeing a winemaking revolution and is now one of the most exciting wine Region in the world.
