Outer quote mark The 2012 Tsundere is all estate fruit and is made from 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Tannat, 13% Grenache and the rest Syrah. Full-bodied, concentrated and yet polished and seamless (which is surprising given the large percentage of Tannat), it reveals loads of complexity in its rose petal, spice, spring flowers, chocolate and exotic red and black fruits. Outer quote mark Brilliant ruby. Sexy, spice-accented aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, fruitcake and floral pastilles, with a hint of smoky minerals adding lift. Palate-staining blueberry and cassis flavors show outstanding concentration but tighten up on the back half. Zinfandel is the traditional red grape of choice, though cabernet, chardonnay, and Rhône varietals are gaining favor. Most are made in a fruit-forward, early drinking style.
