The 2012 5 Blocks checks in as 61% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache and 4% Cinsault that has a forward, medium to full-bodied, voluptuous style. Staying fresh and lively, with classic cassis and black raspberry fruit intermixed with licorice, chocolate and spring flowers, I love the overall purity and focus here, and it’s probably the most approachable and ready-to-go in the lineup. I’d plan on drinking bottles over the coming 4-5 years, but wouldn’t be surprised to see it evolve longer given its balance and overall harmony. I loved these latest releases from Terry Hoage and they epitomize the best of Paso Robles with their rich, textured and up-front style. (JD) (8/2014)
Plush and fragrant, with floral huckleberry and licorice aromas leading to rich, layered flavors of black raspberry, mocha and pepper that linger among the fleshy tannins. Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault. (TF) (10/2015)
