The 2012 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a huge winner. Radiant, perfumed and absolutely impeccable in its balance, the 2012 brings together supple, expressive fruit along with a bright underpinning of acidity that keeps the flavors bright. The persistent, saline finish is hugely alluring. (AG)

These four barrel samples of 2012 Pinot Noirs included the 2012 Pinot Noir (1,225 cases; 13.5% alcohol) which will be bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months in barrel. Its beautiful deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of blueberries, raspberries and spring flowers. Fresh acids give the wine a zestiness. It also possesses plenty of underlying extract, a pure texture and an elegant style. Enjoy it over the next 7-10 years. (RP)

The 2012 Kutch Wines “Sonoma Coast” Pinot Noir is an excellent bottle, offering up a deep, pure and cool fruit bouquet of cherries, red plum, woodsmoke, fresh herb tones, a lovely base of soil and just a touch of new wood. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and velvety on the attack, with a fine core of fruit, lovely focus and balance, a bit of backend tannin and excellent length and grip on the finish. A lovely bottle that is still pretty primary in personality and could do with a few years in the cellar to develop its secondary layers of complexity, but for those interested in drinking this in the blush of youth, it is already very tasty. Drink between 2016-2035.
