Tor Kenward’s early releases are not only living up to the high praise they received, but taste even stronger at age ten than they were when they were young. This 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Cimarossa Vineyard from Howell Mountain is a blockbuster. Intense mulberry and blackberry fruit mixed with wet rocks, forest floor, and licorice are all present in this wine, which has serious concentration, majestic structure and texture, and a long, long finish. It is an adolescent in terms of its development, and probably won’t peak for another 3-4 years, but this is stunning wine. It should evolve at least another 15 years. (RP) (6/2015)
Good medium ruby. Subdued but pure aromas of black fruits, graphite, minerals, licorice and spices. Dense, sweet and youthfully medicinal, with considerable fat to the black fruit and medicinal flavors. Very long and sweetly tannic on the finish, which communicates a medicinal reserve that suggests this will repay several years of cellaring. (ST) (5/2008)
