1999 Behrens & Hitchcock "Cuvée Lola Unfiltered Reserve" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

SKU #1219920 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 1999 Cuvee Lola, a blend dominated by Cabernet Franc (about 75%, with small quantities of Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon added in) is sensational (375 cases; a 'modest' 15.3% alcohol). The wine offers an opaque blue/purple color and an exquisite nose of liquid minerals, black fruits, and spice. Dense, huge, and full-bodied, yet at the same time, remarkably elegant and graceful, it is a tour de force in winemaking, representing a brilliant marriage of power and finesse. Because of the slightly firm tannins in the finish, it will need 2-3 years of cellaring, but should keep 20+ years. (RP) Inner quote mark (12/2000)

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Outer quote mark Good full medium ruby. Flamboyantly aromatic nose melds baked blackberry, black cherry, minerals, bitter chocolate and a head shop of exotic spices. Lush, chewy and sweet but not at all heavy, with dark berry and spice flavors enlivened by violet and mint components. Boasts impressive density for a wine based on cabernet franc. This has personality and spine. (ST) Inner quote mark (6/2002)
