2013 Domaine Latour-Giraud "Genevrieres" Meursault 1er Cru

SKU #1217157 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark Like several of the wines in the range in 2013 this is distinctly restrained where the aromas of white and yellow orchard fruit, acacia blossom and jasmine tea are subtly marked by a certain exoticism. The equally restrained middle weight flavors brim with both ample minerality and plenty of dry extract that really coat the palate yet the balanced finish is notably dry with terrific intensity and persistence. This is a knockout and well-worth investigating. Inner quote mark (6/2015)

93 points Vinous

Outer quote mark (13.3% alcohol without chaptalization): Pale yellow with green highlights. Ripe, sexy aromas of orange blossom, orchard fruits and hazelnut: this could only be Meursault. Ripe, suave, pliant and rich, but still with lovely delicacy to the lightly saline flavors of orchard and citrus fruits. Very dry, harmonious and long. Boasts terrific depth for the year. Domaine Latour Giraud owns 2.5 hectares of the 16 hectare Genevrieres vineyard in the heart of Meursault. I had a chance to taste this wine in Early August and it showed terrific. Initially upfront the nose is quite toasty with an almost exotic fruit component. In the mouth, hints of wild flower, sage and creamy fruit coat the palate, while the finish is vibrant and focused. This wine shows well now but its sweet spot may still be a few years away.
