2012 Ceritas "Elliott Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

SKU #1216304 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Outer quote mark Vivid red. High-pitched, mineral-accented red and dark berry scents are complemented by Asian spices and fresh rose. Silky, sweet and expansive, offering vibrant raspberry and boysenberry flavors and a hint of star anise. Shows very good power with no excess weight and finishes sweet and long, with subtle tannins and resonating floral character. This vineyard is planted to the Mount Eden clone. (ST) Inner quote mark (5/2014)

91 points Vinous

Outer quote mark One of the more tightly coiled wines in the range, the 2012 Pinot Noir Elliott Vineyard is going to need time to fully emerge, as it is a bit compact at present. The flavors are bright and focused throughout. Hints of cranberry, red cherry, spice and rose petal inform the finish. At this stage, the Elliott is a bit compact, but if it fleshes out, it will merit an even more positive note. There is no shortage of personality here. Elliott is nestled between Hirsch and Hellenthal in one of the most stunningly beautiful parts of the Sonoma Coast. Rocky soils rich in marine sediments confer notable tension and drive. Elliott was planted with Mt. Eden clone Pinot in 1981. (AG) 91+ Inner quote mark (1/2015)
