Wine & Spirits
Grapes harvested from the Serego Alighieri vineyard—named for a descendant of Dante Alighieri—form the basis for this dark and savory Amarone. Dense black cherry and plum preserve flavors mingle with gamey tones of roasted meat and herbal notes of thyme, refined tannins holding the wine firm. Rich balsamic and dark chocolate tones emerge, picking up hints of clove and anise on the way to a dry finish.

The 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Serego Alighieri Vaio Armaron opens to tight aromas of dried fruit and spice with characteristic background notes of grilled herb, tobacco, leather and Spanish cedar. The wine also shows beautiful intensity in the mouth where its thick consistency leaves lasting flavors of dark fruit and smoke. (ML)
