Bold, rich and plush, this is impeccably balanced, with ripe, complex plum, wild berry and smoky mocha-laced oak that's woven into the flavor profile. Focused, deep and persistent. Has a long, complex aftertaste, with a nutmeg scent. (JL)

The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (only 2,100 cases) exhibits a dense purple color, more obvious tannin, and a more masculine style than the 2003. It’s a bigger wine with additional notes of scorched earth, blueberries, blackberries, and heady cassis. Unlike most 2004 Napa Cabernets, this weighty effort will require some bottle aging. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and consume it over the following two decades. (RP)

Cedar and heady black cherry dominate the nose. The intense, muscular palate gets a lift from crunchy acidity. Weighty and concentrated, it’s a massive, ripe wine that keeps its balance by dint of its very firm structure and acidity. 17.5/20 points (LM)
