2012 Cayuse "Edith" Walla Walla Valley Grenache Rosé (Previously $50)

SKU #1201456 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Looking like a white wine, with barely any pink color, the 2012 Grenache Rose Edith is nevertheless a gorgeous effort that will be hard to beat on a hot summer day. Juicy and lively, with tangerine, grapefruit and citrus aromas and flavors, this medium-bodied drinker has fabulous purity, refreshing acidity and a clean finish. I’d enjoy it over the coming summer months. (JD) Inner quote mark (6/2014)

Outer quote mark Very pale pink color reminded me of Krug rosé. Aromas of strawberry, watermelon and minerals. Supple and fat on entry but with a lovely spine of acidity cutting through the wine’s creamy texture and giving grip to the finish. Boasts lovely mineral density and finishes salty and persistent. Serve this with a charcuterie plate or with olives. Winemaker Baron did a bit more maceration in 2012 before pressing. (ST) Inner quote mark (12/2014)

Outer quote mark Made from grapes picked early specifically for rosé, this bone-dry wine keeps alcohol low and flavors rich. A pale copper hue, it offers flavors that mimic a cava, without the bubbles. Racy minerality underscores a juicy, fruit-driven palate of lemon, lime and orange. A hint of coffee and crème brulée pokes through the refreshing finish. (PG) Inner quote mark (2/2015)
