An absolute steal! Bright round fruit with structure and flavor. Very easy to drink, with juicy, complex dark red fruit flavors and a dry finish. It will go great with Italian foods like pasta, pizza or steak.

I've been drinking this value-priced stunner consistently for the last 8 vintages or so. It is one of the most reliable and affordable bottles I've come across in my ten years in the wine business, showing a deep, rich fruit profile supported by spice and a hearty structure. This is extremely versatile with food, but also an impossibly easy sipper on its own.

In one of my all-time favorite films, DIRTY HARRY CALLAHAN famously states to a near-arrested baddie, “I know what you’re thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five?” I share in his suspect’s confusion. Not in terms of how many bullets were fired, no. The mystery running through my head is a less mathematical one, and one more suited to our setting here today: How can a wine priced so low, be quite so delicious? While coming in at less than ten dollars thanks to our direct import program, The 2012 Tormaresca NEPRICA bottling, a blend of Negro-amaro, Primitivo, and Cabernet is one of the most immensely versatile wines I’ve had in quite awhile. Here we have something for everyone: Enough fruit and oak to please the “new-worlders”; The acid and structure for us “Italy-philes”, and the smooth drinkability (and price) to please all of you “hosts-with-the-mosts” (It’s the perfect party wine). Folks, this is a case-buy if I’ve ever seen one, so make sure you get yours before I buy it all up myself!

Holy Smokes! For 10 bucks, this wine over delivers in a major way. The Antinori family didn’t miss a beat when they picked up this Puglia property in 1998. Considering it one of Italy’s most promising regions, they chose to showcase the area’s traditional Negroamaro grape and blend it with Primativo and Cabernet to bring us an outstanding wine for an unbelievable price. The power of this wine is immediately apparent. Before you even lift your glass the powerful scent of crushed blueberries and plums rises to meet you. Beautiful notes of cola, cassis, and chocolate give way to a fine ripe cherry finish. The finish doesn’t linger around for long, but if you miss it, you can always try again. It is only $8.99 after all.

A great everyday Southern Italian dinner red. I love this blend. The "Ne", Negro Amaro, gives it aromatic lift and a brighter fruit component. The "Pri", Primitivo gives it pop and richness. The "Ca", Cabernet Sauvignon, give the wine the structure to marry the other components together. A very satisfying dinner wine that goes down a little too easy.

It is hard to believe that a wine at this price point can carry the quality level it does, but the Antinori family has centuries of experience to back them. This wine is a blend of NE (Negroamaro) PR (Primitivo) and CA (Cabernet), hence the Neprica name. Negroamaro is Puglia's most important grape and provides the size and frame and structure of the wine, the Primitivo gives it a rich dose of fruit and the Cabernet adds backbone and complexity, all told for the price this wine can't be beat!
Drink from 2015 to 2017

- Once named Enotria for its abundant vineyards, Italy (thanks to the ancient Greeks and Romans) has had an enormous impact on the wine world. From the shores of Italy, the Romans brought grapes and their winemaking techniques to North Africa, Spain and Portugal, Germany, France, the Danube Valley, the Middle East and even England. Modern Italy, which didn't actually exist as a country until the 1870s, once produced mainly simple, everyday wine. It wasn't until the 1970s that Italy began the change toward quality. The 1980s showed incredible efforts and a lot of experimentation. The 1990s marked the real jump in consistent quality, including excellence in many Region that had been indistinct for ages. The entire Italian peninsula is seeing a winemaking revolution and is now one of the most exciting wine Region in the world.
