Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Moose Valley Vineyard has evolved plum pudding, raisin cake, tobacco and new leather notes on the nose with hints of dried lavender, dusty soil, star anise and powdered cinnamon. Big, concentrated, full-bodied and full-on decadent, the palate delivers powerful black fruit preserves and spicy layers with a plush texture and good long finish. (LPB) (8/2018)
(from the estate vineyard on lower Howell Mountain Road , planted on a combination of decomposed volcanic ash and redder, more nutrient-rich soil) Bright ruby. Deeper and riper on the nose than the Walther River Block, with aromas of cassis, black raspberry and bitter chocolate. Offers good density and depth of flavor, with sweet dark berry flavors complicated by minerals and bitter chocolate. Finishes with big, broad, nicely sweet tannins. (ST) (5/2010)
