Vinous
Denner's 2011 Mother of Exiles is quite a bit sweeter and succulent than the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. The addition of Petit Verdot and higher toast levels result in a distinctly sweeter, spicier wine that will appeal to readers who appreciate a riper, more overt style. Cloves, lavender, menthol and French oak wrap around the racy finish. Mother of Exiles is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Petit Verdot and 7% Merlot. (AG)

K&L Notes
Denner uses roughly half of the grapes planted to their sustainably farmed estate vineyards in western Paso Robles for their estate wines; the rest of their fruit is eagerly bought up by top producers nearby such as Villa Creek Cellars, Linne Calodo, and Justin Vineyards. "Mother of Exiles" is a Bordeaux style blend that sees extended aging in almost entirely new French oak barrique. Composition varies from vintage to vintage.
