2013 Jaffurs "Thompson Vineyard" Santa Barbara County Petite Sirah

SKU #1195076 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2013 Petite Sirah looks to be another killer vintage of this cuvee. First made in 2003, this 2013 offers an inky purple color to go with deep, decadent dark fruits, full-bodied richness and depth, and plenty of fine tannin. It’s a beauty to drink over the coming decade or so. Making their wine in the town of Santa Barbara, Craig Jaffurs and David Yates continue to make a bevy of outstanding wines, all of which remain reasonably priced. Both their 2011s and 2012s are made in a fresher, lighter-weight style that highlights purity and finesse over richness and power. (JD) Inner quote mark (8/2014)

Outer quote mark The 2013 Petite Sirah Thompson Vineyard is so primary tastes like it just came out of the barrel! Inky blue/purplish fruit, cassis, blackberry jam, dark spices and leather are all fresh, vibrant and pure. A wine of significant potential, the 2013 needs time in bottle to lose some of its baby fat. It is impressive, though, even at this early stage. The Petite spent ten months in French and American oak barrels, 16% new (all American). This range of new releases from Craig Jaffurs is full of highlights. The whites, which had a bit of residual sugar last year, are drier and also more focused, while the Syrahs are consistent and, at the top level, simply brilliant. Its always a pleasure to taste through this lineup. I can't recommend the wines highly enough. Inner quote mark (6/2015)
