Just bottled, the 2012 Ditch Digger checks in as a blend of 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre and the balance Cinsault and Counoise. Fermented with 50% whole clusters and aged 80% in used 500-liter barrels and the balance in concrete, it offers a southern Rhone-like bouquet of kirsch and blackberry fruits, ground herbs, pepper and spiced meats. This flows to a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and yet fresh and elegant wine that will have upward of a decade of longevity. (JD)

The 2012 Ditch Digger is fabulous. Dense, layered and beautifully textured on the palate, the 2012 is built on serious concentration. Sweet red cherries, mint, hard candy and menthol inform a juicy, racy Rhone blend with tons of near and medium term appeal. The 2012 was done predominantly in 500-liter barrels, with 50% whole clusters. (AG)

Full-bodied and brooding, with black cherry and dark mocha aromas and concentrated flavors of blueberry, smoky herb and cedar, all held in a vise-grip of tannins. (TF)
