This is a complex wine that's dry at the heart and powered with dark tannins. Slowly the juicy fruit shows through on the mid palate, yielding a wine that offers the potential of solid fruits and excellent acidity.

Fleshy and compact, offering dark plum and black currant paste flavors lined with briar, ganache and roasted tobacco leaf. Shows solid grip and depth.

A balanced and nicely structured wine with fine tannins and a pretty finish. Nicely done for the vintage.

Another sleeper of the vintage, the dense ruby/purple-hued 2012 reveals sweet cranberry and black currant fruit intermixed with hints of spring flowers, earth and subtle wood. Supple, fruity, medium-bodied and well-made, this beauty can be drunk over the next decade.

Good full ruby. Blackcurrant and tobacco are complicated by smoke and violet nuances on the nose and palate. At once supple and precise, with harmonious acidity lifting the middle palate and nicely extending the rich, almost sweet black fruit flavors on the back. The broad finish shows building tannins and repeating violet and mineral notes. Poujeaux is one of the Left Bank's success stories in 2012.

K&L Notes
A serious, dark wine made of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and Cab Franc, with good, rich middle fruit and length. I have many vintages in my collection, and for me Poujeaux, along with Cantemerle, are the greatest values from the Left Bank of the Gironde estuary.-Ralph Sands
