2010 Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino

SKU #1186062 96 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Wonderful aromas of ripe fruit such as plums and grilled meat. Then it shows a fresh soil and sliced mushroom. It's full body, with super silky tannins and beautiful fruit. Balanced and spicy on the finish. A beauty. Drink or hold. Inner quote mark (12/2014)

94 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Aromas and flavors of underbrush augment the cherry and strawberry flavors in this supple, delicate red. Balanced in a linear, tensile way, picking up mineral accents on the lingering, mouthwatering finish. Best from 2019 through 2035. Inner quote mark (6/2015)

Outer quote mark Mario Bollag's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino does a great job of presenting bold fruit flavors with bright cherry and redcurrant in pole position. The delivery is also of special note: The wine feels exceedingly smooth and silky on the close with fresh acidity and loads of berry freshness. It presents a very appealing style with streamlined intensity that is both bright and long lasting. Among the many Brunello wines on the market today, this one will appeal to those who appreciate a finer, more feminine expression. (ML) Inner quote mark (2/2015)

91 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Aromas of violet, plum, savory herb and a hint of toasted oak lead the nose. The rich palate delivers ripe wild cherry, crushed raspberry, coffee, vanilla and mocha alongside velvety tannins. It’s ripe, round and already almost accessible. Drink 2017–2025. Inner quote mark (5/2015)

Glass Full Glass Full Glass Full Glass Full Glass Half
The nose reflects the winery’s name, Land pointed at the Sun (pardon the interpretation, it’s less poetic but more accurate), a warm ripeness emerges from the glass but in all of my notes from tasting this wine, more than a half a dozen times, I always used the words cool fruit. Ripe, yes, but not over-ripe, perfectly ripe, it feels as if it is just glistening in the sun. The flavors are a complex blend of fruit compote and spice drawer, hints of exotic woods, sandalwood, cedar and a slice of umami porcini like flavors as well. This wine has a lot of mid palate richness, it is supple, smooth and luxurious but all really well balanced by a freshening, lifting acidity. Wonderful to drink now but will age for another decade plus.
Drink from 2015 to 2030
