(aged for 26 months in new and used French and American oak barrels) Vivid, faded red color. A highly complex bouquet evokes dried red fruits, candied rose, coconut, pipe tobacco and mocha, with hints of smoked meat and baking spices emerging as the wine opens up. Classic, old school Rioja and fully mature, offering bitter cherry, blood orange, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that turn sweeter on the back half. Finishes smooth, spicy and very long, with no apparent tannins and resonating floral and tobacco notes. (JR) (2/2019)
