Outer quote mark The Haart 2007 Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Spatlese smells of lightly caramelized peach, nut brittle, grilled pineapple, and sassafras. Vivid fruit skin tartness and juicy citrus and a sense of crushed stone suffusion offer a satisfying foil to the caramelized, toasted, and honeyed elements of this imposing and enormously ripe Spatlese that finishes with an endearing and memorable sense of lift. One can plan on following it for a couple of decades. Theo and son Johannes Haart had memorable success in 2007, a vintage Haart senior compares in quality and style with 2001, and whose wines he thinks will need longer than usual to show their true meddle. 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Outer quote mark Yeasty aromas of fresh apple, tropical fruits and lemon oil. Honeyed and rich, but with a delicacy to its papaya fruit, this spatlese is kept alive by its brisk acidity. The deceptively spicy finish shows a clear and refreshing slate character. 92(+?) points Inner quote mark (2/2009)

Jancis Robinson

Outer quote mark Racy and transparent and lively. Very delicate lemonade-elderflower cordial with minerals. 17.5/20 points. Inner quote mark (7/2008)

K&L Notes

Showing both the richness and elegance of 2007 with salty minerals, lush fruit and lingering juiciness on the finish. Winemaker Theo Haart has come to be known as the top producer in Piesport. He demands the highest of standards, keeps the yields low and is a fanatic when it comes to the harvest, ensuring only the healthiest of grapes are picked. His style is one that accentuates the minerality and purity of fruit of the Goldtropfchen. This wine is starting to show some fantastic qualities. (Eric Story, German Buyer)

What an impressive Riesling! It’s starting to come into its age by developing beautiful aromatics of petrol, honey, and orange blossom. While it does have the typical light body of the Mosel, it’s light without being thin and shows richness and complexity. The palate provide bright acidity, lemon zest, nectarine and white peach notes. This medium-sweet style can be admired on its own or paired exceptionally with spicy foods or dessert.
