2006 Two Hands "Bella's Garden" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia

SKU #1160136 94 points James Halliday

More opulent and fleshy than Gnarly Dudes, leaving no corner of the mouth untouched; the fruit, oak and tannins carry the alcohol. (3/2008)

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Ruby-red. Energetic red and dark berry, floral and mineral scents along with a hint of spun sugar. Lively, sharply focused black raspberry and cherry preserve flavors are surprisingly weightless, with back-end mineral bite adding energy. A vibrant, deeply flavored Shiraz that's very inviting right now but has the balance to age. (JR) (7/2008)

93 points Wine Spectator

Firm in texture, this is balanced with a vibrant core of red cherry, raspberry and spice flavors that persist on the chewy finish, expanding to show hints of dark chocolate and sweet spices. (HS) (7/2008)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The purple-colored 2006 Shiraz Bella’s Garden from Barossa Valley offers a brooding bouquet of wood smoke, pepper, damp earth, blueberry, and licorice. This leads to a full-bodied, layered Shiraz with excellent grip and power. (JM) (2/2009)

91 points Wine Enthusiast

A big (15.6% alcohol) wine, the 2006 Bella’s Garden nevertheless comes across as balanced and drinkable in its youth, marrying a rich, creamy texture with mixed berry fruit and hints of mint and vanilla. Avoids any cooked character, finishing long and fresh. (9/2008)

K&L Notes

Two Hands Wines was founded in early 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz. The original aim shared by Michael and Richard was to make the best possible Shiraz-based wines from prized Shiraz growing regions throughout Australia. Their intention was, and still is, to showcase the diversity of Australian Shiraz by highlighting regional characteristics and allowing the fruit to be the primary feature of the wines. Two Hands refers to the very personable approach taken with each parcel of grapes, no matter how big or small. The wines are carefully guided through the viticulture and winemaking process by Michael Twelftree.
