2012 Turley "Dusi Vineyard" Paso Robles Zinfandel (Previously $70)

SKU #1157730 93 points Vinous

An explosive wine with real personality, the 2012 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard is all about voluptuousness and texture. Dark, ripe and seductive, the 2012 shows the inherent richness of Paso Robles. Sweet spices, dark plums and a hint of espresso are layered into the inviting finish. (AG) (12/2014)

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2012 Zinfandel Dusi comes from a vineyard planted in 1945, and is still farmed by the Dusi family. It is one of the stars of the vintage for Larry Turley. (RP) (12/2013)

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Riper and higher-toned on the nose than the Pesenti, hinting at blackberry and licorice. A sweet, creamy fruit bomb on the palate; in a distinctly plush style, showing terrific depth to its fruit but not quite the definition or grip of the Pesenti. In fact, this vineyard lies further inland and shows less diurnal variation than either Pesenti or Ueberroth. (ST) (6/2014)

90 points Wine Spectator

Silky and soft, with ripe, plush raspberry and spiced caramel flavors and smoky cherry and anise aromas. (TF) (6/2014)

K&L Notes

Turley Wine Cellars makes 34 wines, the vast majority of which are single-vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old-vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture. All of the vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and they use all-natural yeasts in the fermentations.
