Turley's 2012 Petite Syrah Rattlesnake Ridge dazzles from the very first taste. One of the few wines in this range that is going to need time in bottle, the Rattlesnake boasts tremendous depth in its inky fruit, game, graphite and mint. Firm tannins frame the broad, expansive finish in a dramatic Petite full of Howell Mountain personality. Readers who can be patient will be rewarded with a superb Petite loaded with character and personality. (AG)

Saturated ruby. Brooding aromas of blueberry, licorice pastille and bitter chocolate. Hugely rich but youthfully imploded, showing an almost candied ripeness to the inky black and blue fruit flavors. Tannins are huge but not dry. This remarkably dense wine will need several years to open in bottle and come into focus. The very high pH of 4.0 shows in the wine's exotic character but it does not lack for structure. (ST) 93+

Fragrant, with lavender, chai tea and dark rye bread aromas, offering a core of huckleberry and blackberry flavors. The dark espresso details and firm, dense tannins don't interfere with the long, expressive finish. *Highly Recommended* (MW)
