Celebrated winemaker Jerry Luper (Diamond Creek, Freemark Abbey and Château Montelena) produced three vintages of his own wine under the J.E. Luper label from 1982-1984 while making wine at Château Bouchaine. A rare treasure for the California vintage wine collector. Bouchaine is fortunate to be one of the first wineries to participate in the Napa Green Farm Certification program. They've worked closely with the Napa County Resource Conservation District, the Department of Fish and Game, and the National Marine Fisheries Service to develop a long-term farm plan that conserves their natural resources and protects the surrounding waterways. Richard Jennings for rjonwine.com: "Bricking dark cherry red color; lovely camphor, mint and redolent berry nose; tangy, tart red fruit with Italian character, a hint of pepperoni and white pepper; medium finish." (12/2007) Anthony Dias Blue: "Rich, elegant, great structure. Drink now. 3 stars (excellent)." (American Wine: A Comprehensive Guide, 2010)
