The 2009 Era is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based red with 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. It is a dark, powerful wine bursting with plums, espresso, mocha, sweet French oak and licorice, all of which come together in a powerful, virile style. Layers of black fruit build effortlessly towards the opulent, caressing finish. Despite the wine’s richness, there is excellent underlying structure. This is a distinctly sweet style that lacks the finesse of the 2008 tasted alongside it. (AG)

Full, deep ruby-red. Pure but subdued aromas of cassis, licorice, dark chocolate and herbs. Broad but a bit unrefined, and less sweet today than the To Kalon bottling. The dark berry flavors come across as a bit chunky and the dusty tannins a tad rough, but the finish is nontheless broad and long. I'd lay this down. (ST) 90+
