2008 Au Bon Climat "Talley-Rincon Vineyard" Arroyo Grande Valley Pinot Noir

SKU #1118794 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Outer quote mark Deep, bright red. Red fruit preserves, violet and allspice on the fragrant nose. Juicy and precise, with very good depth and energy to its raspberry and bitter cherry flavors. Gains spiciness with air and picks up a mocha nuance, along with a touch of peppery spice. Finishes clean and very long, with gentle tannic grip and a lingering red fruit note. I find this pinot extremely attractive right now but I have no doubt that it will be even better with five or more years of bottle age. Inner quote mark (11/2011)

Outer quote mark The 2008 Pinot Noir Talley Rincon is a fairly straightforward, juicy Pinot with lovely varietal fruit framed by subtle hints of spiciness and sweet French oak. The Rincon possesses excellent freshness and minerality in a medium-bodied style best suited for near-term drinking. This is a beautiful, understated Pinot from Au Bon Climat. The Rincon was aged in 100% new barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Jim Clendenen is one of the pioneers of the Central Coast. At their best, his wines capture striking expressions of some of the region’s top sites deeply influenced by a huge passion and admiration for the great wines of Burgundy. Inner quote mark (8/2011)
