2004 Kilikanoon "Testament" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia

SKU #1117041 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

From the Barossa sub-regions of Greenock and Vinevale, the fabulous 2004 Shiraz Testament exhibits this varietal’s more scorched earth/volcanic side with blackberry liqueur, creosote, pepper, espresso roast, and singed leather characteristics. Opulent, with sensational fruit, a thick, unctuous attack and mid-palate, and a long finish of over a minute, this stunning Shiraz should be at its best in 3-4 years, and age for two decades. Not far behind Kilikanoon’s R Reserve—and, indeed, it comes from the same vineyards—the 2004 Testament is also a tour de force. There’s a hint of rhubarb and spicy cinnamon that lends intrigue to the aromas of rich blackberry fruit, while the flavors seamlessly blend in hints of red raspberries and cracked pepper. Finishes long, crisp and mouthwatering. Drink now–2020. *Editors' Choice* (11/2007)

Plush and ripe, with a gorgeous range of blackberry, plum and thyme flavors that mingle effortlessly on the long, dense finish. Also hits some licorice notes. Best from 2010 through 2020. (9/2007)

In the powerful mode for which Kilikanoon is famous; a mix of rich fruit, cedary tannins plus oak need to come together; will do so; the wine does have length. (10/2006)
