2010 Von Strasser "Rudy" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #1116238

I love this Cabernet, and not just because Rudy is my wife's name! Diamond Mountain's higher elevation means the grapes see more direct sunlight and less cooling influences than the rest of the Napa Valley, leading to the production of some of the most concentrated and delicious Cabernet Sauvignon in the entire region. This shows all-around elegance from start to finish. Great black and blue fruit on the nose. Big, plush and round on the palate, with blackberry, blueberry, plum, sweet fresh oak, herbal and floral notes and a touch of minerality from the volcanic soil of the vineyard. Fantastic finish to boot. All this for twenty bucks! (Illya Haase, K&L Hollywood)

The best of our "drink now" California Cabernet's, Rudy from Von Strasser, returns! This wine packs a punch for $20, with nice blackberry, black cherry, and plum notes alongside a great mineral streak to bring it all together. Lighter tanins finish off this very approachable bottle. Great for any night of the week!

In a world of overprice Cab's. the Rudy is a bastion of hope for affordable, quality wines. The 2nd wine of Von Strasser delivers elegance and power that balance each other perfectly. Rich cherry and plum notes are balanced with minerality and silky tannins. Next time you need a week night cab, reach for Rudy.

One of the best $20 Cabs we carry! The 2010 vintage has a touch more softness and rounder edges. The very grippy tannins of the 2009 have been toned down a touch. This wine is exceptionally balanced and drinkable now and over the next five years.
