*Cellar Selection* Here’s one for the cellar, no doubt about it. Shows classic, old-fashioned Howell tannins, the kind that grip early and lock the palate down throughout. But you can’t help but be struck by the immensity of fruit. Massive in sweet blackberries and black currants, liberally oaked, and with a core of minerals, it will develop over the next ten years, at the very least.

Int'l Wine Cellar
Dark red. Expressive nose offers redcurrant, tobacco, loam, mocha and vanilla. Sweet and pliant in the mouth, with ripe acids giving shape to the redcurrant, iron and mocha flavors. Shows more depth and flavor intensity than Duckhorn's 2008 merlots, which I tasted just before this wine. Finishes with ripe tannins and decent length.

K&L Notes
This is the debut vintage of Duckhorn's Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, replacing the Howell Mountain Red Blend in their range. Based on older vine fruit from the winery's Stout Vineyard, which adds the distinctive wild berry, earthy and herbaceous character to this full-bodied mountain Cab.
