2010 Château de Montfaucon "Baron Louis" Lirac (1.5L)

SKU #1114706 90 points Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The other outstanding offering is the medium to full-bodied 2010 Baron Louis, which is a Cotes du Rhone primarily from Lirac. A sleeper of the vintage, it is a co-fermented blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Counoise and Mourvedre. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by sumptuous notes of raspberries, kirsch, spring flowers and loamy, earthy soil. Inner quote mark (10/2012)

Wine Spectator

Magnums of good value Rhone like this are the perfect thing for the cellar. They gain complexity over time, but also drink well if the occasion to drink comes sooner. This wine has always been a selection of the best barrels tanks and foudres at the Montfaucon estate, and this year it happens to be all from old vines in the appelation of Lirac. With an impressive dark color and lots of brambly black fruit on the nose this is real untamed Rhone wine. The Baron Louis has good tannic grip and will be a great partner for your next BBQ with its spicy power! If you decide you love it, lay some down in your cellar. The 1997 that we just tasted was showing great!
Top Value! Drink from 2013 to 2025
