San Polo delivers a stellar 2007 Brunello with incredible density, concentration and personality. It starts off soft, smooth and supple until those still-young tannins appear on the close, giving the wine a firm backbone. Black fruit, cherry, rum cake, plum, black pepper and cured meat characterize the bouquet. In all, this is a beautiful ensemble with layers of beauty and freshness. *Cellar Selection*

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is gorgeous. It may be the very best wine I have ever tasted from San Polo. Sweet red cherries, flowers, mint and spices are woven together beautifully in this juicy, sexy Brunello. The 2007 keeps getting better with time in the glass. Readers looking for a Brunello that will drink well with a minimum of cellaring will find a lot of pleasure here. (AG)

Blueberries, spices, minerals and mint follow through to a full body, with intense, integrated tannins and a long fruity finish. Tight and in reserve.

A spicy version, sporting cinnamon, allspice, cardamom and licorice aromas and flavors. There's a core of cherry, along with bright acidity and firm tannins. Elegant and forward, with fine length. (BS)
