Lanson Extra Age "XA" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne (Previously $125)

SKU #1112614 93 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Aged for at least five years in the Lanson cellars before disgorgement, this is a blend of Grand Cru wines from the Côte des Blancs. It has signs of maturity in the hints of toast and almonds while showing a crisp, tightly mineral texture. It's a great food wine, very fresh with good depth of flavor. The acidity at the end is bright and refreshing. (RV) Inner quote mark (12/2015)

I drank this incredible bottle of creamy blanc de blancs last week with sushi, and I was blown away. This has the poise, texture and perfect bead that only very long ageing can bring. It reminded me of the few times that I have been lucky enough to taste aged Comtes de Champagne from Taittinger, but with an extra element of nutty complexity and great back end snap due to the fact that Lanson never does malolactic fermentation. What a treat!
Drink from 2020 to 2030
