2009 Copain "Kiser- En Bas" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

SKU #1111700 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2009 Pinot Noir Kiser En Bas caresses the palate with layers of round, highly expressive fruit. The higher percentage of clay in this part of the vineyard gives the wine an additional layer of breadth and richness that is striking. Clean veins of underlying minerality add intensity and drive. Black cherries, plums, spices and minerals wrap around the long, insistent finish. (AG) (2/2012)

A very high-toned and admirably pure nose offers up notes of red berry and currant liqueur that enjoys added breadth from the presence of soft spice nuances. The refinement continues on the equally pure, vibrant and silky middle weight flavors that possess a dusty mouth feel and superb length. This impeccably well-balanced and solidly structured effort is an exercise in harmony and grace. *outstanding* (10/2011)

Bright red. Showing more cherry and dark fruit character than the Kiser En Haut, but there's very good to this wine, too. Opens more slowly than the En Haut, offering spicy cherry and black raspberry flavors and notes of cocoa powder and anise. Sappy, penetrating and pure, with excellent finishing cut and slow-building tannins. I like this wine's blend of power, tension and vivacity. (ST) (6/2011)

Wine Spectator

Focused on a tight core of sour cherry and wild berry. Firm and spicy, showing good density and persistence, with touches of pennyroyal, dried herb and crushed rock. Drink now through 2022. (JL) (6/2013)
